This 33pc glow plug thread repair kit is an essential tool for alloy cylinder heads. Manufactured from chrome vanadium steel for strength and durability, the set includes taps and coils for repairing the threads of 8mm / 10mm / 12mm glow plugs. Features a unique tap guide system to ensure correct alignment of threaded inserts and four sizes of threaded adaptors suitable for common sizes of glow plugs.

A good tool that could be better

Bought this to do a stripped glowplug thread in a Ssangyong Rexton, which has a slightly modified Mercedes OM612 2.7 diesel. The kit would have been improved by a longer tap, or smaller hex head on it. The glowplug threads were 50mm down a 13mm hole yet the tap was 55mm long and had a 12mm hex head. I was forced to use a linisher to reduce the size of the head head so a 10mm socket would fit on. A little more thought about the application of this tool would have gone a long way.
